Progress at Crewe at the beginning of October 2015

  • The boiler plate is being cleaned up, ready for testing to ascertain the plate thickness
  • Some of the boiler plate has already been tested for thickness
  • The boiler is, now, upside down
  • The upside down smokebox
  • Some of the plate has been tested for thickness, and some of it needs replacing
  • Work is underway on cleaning up the boiler plate, so that it can be tested for thickness
  • The frames, bogie and bissel
  • The manifold is normally fitted to the top of the backhead, and contains the Klinger valves
  • This is the valve that connects the air braking system to the vacuum braking system
  • This is the original braking system from the engine, and is still used for braking the loco and the tender
  • The injector bodies - the cones have already been removed
  • These coil springs are from the bogie and the bissel
  • The bogie frames
